The Natalie Williams Breast Care Foundation (NWBCF), founded in January 2013, is the leading voice in the promotion of breast care awareness among women of color. They focus specifically on the breast cancer disease and early detection, and the overall promotion of healthy breast care. Their efforts are targeted in the African American, Latino, Hispanic, Asian, African, and Caribbean communities across the globe.
The NWBCF organization is governed by an appointed Board of Directors, which is comprised of survivors of breast cancer and supporters of our cause. We are supported by a medical advisory team of doctors and nurses who practice in the areas of breast surgery, oncology, radiology and healthy living – with practices at Howard University Hospital, United Medical Center, and George Washington University Hospital.
NWBCF was founded following Ms. Williams’ journey with breast cancer at the age of 41. After being diagnosed in July of 2012, she underwent a double mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation in an effort to combat the disease. Today, she attributes her remission to an increased awareness of the risk factors of breast cancer and her continued focused on a healthy mind, body, and spirit.

1 out of 8 women will experience breast cancer in their lifetime — and if you’re African American or Latino living in Washington DC — those numbers, and the chance of death, is even greater. That’s why the Natalie Williams Breast Care Foundation (NWBCF) focuses on closing the disparities for women of color here in the nation’s capital.
On April 29, 2017, the Natalie Williams Breast Care Foundation will hold its 2nd Annual “Test My Breasts” 5K Walk and Wellness Fair along Washington DC’s beautiful Tidal Basin trial. We are asking all women of color, survivors and supporters of our cause, to join us as we work together to save the lives of our sisters. Come out and enjoy yoga, wellness tests, healthy food and drink demonstrations, and lots of information to keep you on the right path towards wellness. Runners are welcomed.
